Chapter 9
Xánur
I can’t believe we shifted again, this time in front of Cin. I wanted her to find out but not like this. I wanted to be the first one to tell her about the prophecy and what it meant for us all, but of course, Asar was too damned pissed to talk about it. He wasn’t much of a talker. He was more of a fighter, and he thinks I let him goad me into punching him, but he forgot I knew him. I smiled at him as I rubbed the ice pack on my shoulder that he had dislocated. He was worse than me because when he was in a rage, he never concentrated. He just threw hits like a mad man.
“What the fuck are you smiling about?” Asar threw his ice pack at me, and I caught it with my left hand.
I chuckled, shaking my head. “For someone who just got their ass handed to them, you seem to want to fight again.”
He scowled, “If I weren’t so mad, I’d definitely be a good match for you. We can’t beat each other, dumbass,” he stated.
“I’m just glad you’ve cleared your head even if you thought goading me with what you said to Cin was the reason.”
He side-eyed me, “You knew?” He flinched when Cin wrapped the bandage around his torso tighter than she should’ve. “Jesus, Cin! Chill!”
Cin was pissed at the both of us. She was giving us the silent treatment and more to me than Asar as always.
“Shut up!” She exclaimed as she finished.
Usually, we healed faster, but because we attacked each other after we transformed, it took a day or two for us to heal fully. Cin moved away from Asar and came towards me. She was definitely not talking to me as she sat in front of me on the floor. I opened my legs wider, so she could come closer. She made sure the first-aid kit supplies she had were next to her as she began to apply some medicine that was made for slow healing cuts for supes. I stared at her as she ignored me focusing a little too much on the cuts on my face.
“You’re seriously going to ignore me?” I knew she was going to, but it wouldn’t hurt to ask.
Cin scowled, kissed her teeth, and pressed hard on the cut under my eye. The pain traveled all the way to my toes. I gritted my teeth trying not to let a sound out. I swear Cin was a sadist, and she just didn’t realize it yet. As if she read my mind, she glared at me. I gave her my best boyish grin, and she narrowed her eyes at me. I almost had her. She stood, kicking me in the process as she left Asar and me in the disaster of the living room.
“So childish,” I said as she made some noise and kept going wherever she was going.
Asar shook his head, “She must’ve been really scared.”
I nodded as I jumped up to my feet, made my way to him, and offered him a hand.
